Americano is an IBA cocktail again, so it is a classic we can admit.

It was invented in Milan in 1860 by Gaspare Campari. Yes, you heard right Gaspare Campari, that is the man who also created Campari. The first name of this cocktail was “Milano – Torino” because the cocktail couldn’t include soda at first only Campari and Sweet Vermouth was in it. Home of Campari’s is Milan, and sweet vermouth is Torino. After a while, soda started to be added to the cocktail.

So when did it name change?

Since it was preferred by American tourists who came during prohibition time, its name became Americano day by day.
